@IvanS61′s Top Play for UFC 155

Man what a tough card UFC 155 is to bet on. With three pick em fights and six favorites over -200 you really have to pick your spots on this card. Now for my top bet of this card I will be betting on the Yushin Okami & Alan Belcher fight. A little bit of background on these guys, Yushin Okami is such a strong wrestler who trains with Chael Sonnen up in Oregon, while Alan Belcher is a BJJ black belt and Muay Thai striker who was able to go on the ground with Rousimar Palhares and avoid the “deadly” leglocks of Palhares. Okami is 27-7 and snapped a two fight losing streak against Buddy Roberts back in August at UFC 150. Belcher is 18-6 and is on a four fight winning streak. His last fight against Palhares was the best showing of his career.

My pick for this fight is Alan Belcher and the reason why is because I believe he can dictate where the fight will go. I think Alan will be able to keep Yushin at bay with his striking since Yushin has been somewhat conservative with his striking ever since the Tim Boestch fight. Against Buddy Roberts, Yushin really looked uncomfortable striking with him so he immediately shot for the take down and was able to ground and pound for a TKO victory. Now there is the possibility that Belcher can still get taken down by Yushin but I don’t see him getting dominated on the ground at all. Belcher can use his active guard to threaten with subs and look for sweeps. I see Alan Belcher winning a decision here.

A few more things that I like about Alan Belcher are his mental focus and game plans. Against Rousimar Palharess he was able to bring leg lock specialists into his training camp to practice and avoid getting subbed by a leg lock, so I’m pretty sure he brought in wrestlers and worked on his take down defense to prepare for this fight. Alan’s mental game is also a key here since he has a lot of confidence in his fighting abilities and is hungry for a shot at the title.  I believe Alan gets it done in the rematch from over 6 years ago and pulls out a decision.

One last note I have to mention. At today’s weigh in Okami looked less muscular then usual, while Alan looked great. I see this being a great showing for Alan Belcher.

Now I will be betting Alan Straight at -110. I am currently using Bovada as my sportsbook so I will be posting my wagering ticket from their. You may be able to find him at plus money if you have the right book. Another bet you can make on this fight is the over 2.5 rounds which is sitting at -170 on 5 Dimes. I really can’t see a stoppage happening this fight

Currently my record for my Top Play’s is 2-0. Follow me on twitter @IvanS61 I will post my other bets on their. Also if you want to talk MMA or any other sports shoot me a tweet. Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you betting this weekend!
