Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit vs Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks
The two top Welterweights will meet at UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I was really looking forward to seeing the re-match between the Natural born killer and Rory MacDonald but Rory’s out due to an injury. So in comes Johny Hendricks to fill in for the injured Rory Mac Donald a little closer to what “Bigg Rigg” really was eyeing, a shot at the title but a win will get him there in my books.
Carlos Condit will definitely be looking to rebound from a loss to Georges St. Pierre where he came up just a bit short but had some great moments and came close to finishing GSP. The “Natural Born Killer” will look to use good footwork and keep moving to avoid Big Rigs greatest weapon which is that power punch.
Condit is by far the most skilled well-rounded fighter Hendricks has faced in the octagon yet.
A critical advantage for Condit is his reach, height and use of all his tools he mixes kicks and punches so fluidly backing up or moving forward.
Something I noticed in his fight with GSP was his wrestling and takedown defence has improved vastly this he will need against Hendricks.
Also he has a very dangerous guard where he avoids damage controlling his opponents and will look for submissions off his back.
Something people are forgetting because of who he’s fighting is Condit has some serious power also remember in December where he knocked the Champ down with that sneaky head kick, or how about the left hook that put Dan Hardy to sleep.
The Natural Born Killer in my opinion has the best Muay Thai in the Welterweight division he uses all the tools of the art of eight limbs.
Johny Hendricks is coming in on a five fight tear through the Welterweight ranks and
has people noticing the Texan. Not the fight he was originally slated for but either way Big Rig with be looking to land one of his patented KO punches. To compliment that incredible striking he is a four-time NCAA All American, and twice NCAA Champion. This might be plan B where he can definitely have an advantage and hold Condit at bay for some serious Ground and Pound.
My Prediction for this scrap is Carlos Condit has too much in his arsenal for Hendricks. I believe he can avoid the punches and with good footwork and counter striking especially utilizing his kicks and knees in the clinch, he takes the decision. The outcome of this tilt has huge implications to the division if Johny wins decisively there is no way he could be denied a title shot. If Condit wins what then does he get another crack at the belt or would the Mac Donald fight be next.
In closing I would not look away while this tussles happening because with two great strikers of this caliber meet it could be over at anytime any round either guy.
Guess we just sit back and wait till Saturday night!!!!!!!

Agree with the analysis, just not the outcome. Condit is very dangerous, but Hendricks can beat him. Sadly, Hendricks is better suited to GSP than Condit. Against GSP he wins, against Condit its arguably tougher.
